Petition? Nah. S'nothing to do with democracy. Why should anyone else have any say on whether or not you opt for Resurrection?
What IS needed is a legally watertight "Informed Consent Protocol" as mentioned in the play. I imagine a "Living Will" is probably fairly close to the required format.
What we need to be able to do is sign an affidavit while we're still alive and of sound mind, to the effect that should the option become available, we are willing and eager to be resurrected.
I keep intending to draft one. Shouldn't be difficult. Anyone else want to get the ball rolling?
